Yes, we have Mannies too!

We thought we would share with you an outline of a Mannies experience, he writes;

"In 2013 alone, I've cared for & tutored 7 different children, I've been employed by two different families, I've travelled to Milan, Italy, Marbella, Spain (twice), Geneva, Switzerland, New York, Boston & Washington, all on the East Coast of the USA, Moscow, Russia and Dubai in the Emirates.

In a profession dominated by women it's difficult to fathom why a family would hire a football loving, heterosexual man to help their daughters practice pirouettes for an upcoming ballet recital but it happens! I wanted to share with you how great the job is really is.

I must mention that every child I’ve cared for has been fantastic, not always well behaved, but intelligent, loving and what they also have in common is that I have developed a bond with them all, not just for the sake of fulfilling the duties of my job, but an attachment that's born from things like getting to know all their likes and dislikes, watching them fall asleep while you hold them, talking to them about the u-turn from how much they hated me the minute I stepped foot into their home to "I always want you to stay", interacting with these children for long periods of time, even more than their parents, and so when a child begins to rely on you as he would his father the inevitability of having to leave that child behind for whatever reason is the only downside of being a Manny, well that and changing a nappy!"

Our tips for selecting the right Nanny/Manny

Identify your priorities: Make a list of what you want in an ideal Nanny/Manny. Do you want someone older with a lot of experience, or do you need a younger nanny who can keep up with the energy levels of your children? Are you looking for someone bilingual? Do you need a person who lives close by so they won’t be late? How much are you willing to pay a Nanny/Manny?

There are a lot of things to consider, so take your time discussing your priorities before starting your search.
